Ajaypal Singh Ajay Banga, born on November 10, 1959, is an Indian-born American business executive who has served as the president of the World Bank Group since 2023. Prior to his appointment, he was the executive chairman of Mastercard and had previously held the roles of president and chief executive officer of the company from July 2010 until December 2020. After retiring from Mastercard in December 2021, he joined General Atlantic as its vice chairman. Banga has also held several significant positions, including chairman of Exor, the partnership controlling stakes in Stellantis and other companies, as well as chairman of the public-private Partnership for Central America alongside U.S. vice president Kamala Harris. He has served as chairman of the U.S.-India Business Council, representing over 300 international investment companies in India, and as chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce. His nomination to lead the World Bank was made by the Biden administration in February 2023, and he was elected to the position on May 3, 2023.

A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
