About Barry
Barry Stephen Odom, born on November 26, 1976, in Lawton, Oklahoma, is an American college football coach and former linebacker. He played college football at the University of Missouri from 1996 to 1999, where he was a starting linebacker for four seasons. During his junior year in 1998, he led Missouri to the Insight.com Bowl and received third-team All-Big 12 Conference honors. Odom began his coaching career in 2000 as an assistant at Ada High School and later was the head coach at Rock Bridge High School. In 2003, he returned to the University of Missouri in various coaching roles, eventually becoming safeties coach in 2009. He served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Memphis from 2012 to 2014, leading Memphis to the American Athletic Conference championship in 2014. Odom returned to Missouri in 2015 to lead the Tigers' defense and was named head football coach in 2016, a position he held until 2019. Following his tenure at Missouri, he was appointed defensive coordinator at the University of Arkansas, where he contributed to two bowl victories in 2021 and 2022. In December 2022, he became the head coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, leading the team to its first Mountain West Conference championship game appearances. As of December 8, 2024, he is the head football coach at Purdue University.
