Catherine O'Hara

Catherine Anne O'Hara (March 4, 1954 – January 30, 2026) was a Canadian and American actress and comedian whose career spanned over 50 years. She began her career in sketch and improvisational comedy in film and television, gaining prominence through her work on the CBC Television children's sitcom Coming Up Rosie in 1975 and later on the sketch comedy series Second City Television from 1976 to 1984. Her performances on SCTV earned her a Primetime Emmy Award. O'Hara expanded her acting repertoire by taking on dramatic roles and appeared in numerous films including After Hours, Heartburn, Beetlejuice, Home Alone, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. She was recognized for her collaborations with Christopher Guest in mockumentary films such as Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. Her voice acting credits include the films The Nightmare Before Christmas, Chicken Little, Over the Hedge, Monster House, Where the Wild Things Are, Frankenweenie, Elemental, and The Wild Robot. Notably, she experienced a career resurgence with her role as Moira Rose in the CBC sitcom Schitt's Creek from 2015 to 2020, earning a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Her television work also includes roles in Six Feet Under, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Last of Us, and The Studio. O'Hara was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017 and her performances have earned her various accolades, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards.
