Over the years, Dixon has accumulated 59 race wins and 144 podium finishes in American open-wheel racing. He has also competed in endurance racing events such as the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Off the track, he has received numerous honors including induction into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and the Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame, as well as multiple national awards from New Zealand, culminating in his knighthood as a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2025.
