Jodie Williams

Jodie Alicia Williams, born on 28 September 1993, is a British retired sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. She initially focused on the 100 and 200 metres and enjoyed a successful junior career, winning multiple titles including the 2009 World Youth Championship at 100 and 200 metres, the 2010 World Junior Championship at 100 metres, the 2011 European Junior Championship at both distances, and the 2013 European U23 Championship at 200 metres. Williams maintained an unbeaten streak of 151 races over five years from 2005 until 2010. She holds British youth records in the 60, 100, and 200 metres and was the top-ranked British woman over 200 metres in 2010 at the age of sixteen. Transitioning to the longer sprint distances following injuries, Williams achieved her first senior medals in 2014, securing a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay and a silver in the 200 metres at the Commonwealth Games. She continued to compete at the international level, earning medals at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games through 2022. Her transition to the 400 metres proved successful, culminating in a bronze at the 2021 European Indoor Championships and a landmark performance at the 2022 European Championships. In 2024, at the age of 30, Williams was selected for her third Olympic Games as a relay runner and contributed to Great Britain winning an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay. After accumulating nine international medals and four British national titles, she announced her retirement from elite athletics.
