About Simon
Simon Philip Raymonde, born on 3 April 1962, is an English musician and record producer. He is best known as the bass guitarist and keyboard player for the Scottish band Cocteau Twins, a role he held from 1983 to 1997. As the son of arranger and composer Ivor Raymonde, he has an extensive career in music production and management. Raymonde has worked as a producer and mixer on numerous records, including albums by Clearlake, James Yorkston, John Grant's first band the Czars, the Duke Spirit, Archie Bronson Outfit, Anthony Reynolds, and the Open. His production work includes remixing tracks for artists such as Archive, Tristeza, and Departure Lounge. He also co-produced the posthumous album of Billy Mackenzie and mixed Fionn Regan's album The End of History, which was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize, as well as Lift to Experience's album The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads. Currently, Raymonde manages the Bella Union record label and its artist management company. In addition to his musical career, he authored a memoir titled In One Ear: Cocteau Twins, Ivor Raymonde and Me, published on 12 September 2024. His work spans performance, production, and publishing, making him a significant figure in contemporary music.
