Soh Rui Yong

Guillaume Soh Rui Yong, born on 6 August 1991, is a Singaporean long-distance runner and a member of the Singapore national team. He holds five national records in long-distance events, including the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters on track, as well as the half marathon and marathon. Soh has received recognition for his mental stamina and athletic achievements; the President of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, has described him as the most outstanding long-distance runner in Singapore's history. He also holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in a suit by a male, with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 57 seconds. Throughout his career, Soh has achieved significant milestones such as winning back-to-back SEA Games gold medals in the marathon in 2017, making him the first Singaporean male marathoner to do so. In 2023, he became the first Singaporean to win a silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the SEA Games. Soh is known for acts of sportsmanship, offering help to fellow competitors during races. He is also a five-time national champion at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, winning every edition since the event's inception in 2017.
