About Telma

Telma Louise Hopkins, born on October 28, 1948, is an American actress and pop singer. She initially gained prominence as a member of the pop group Tony Orlando and Dawn, which produced several number-one songs. Hopkins performed on the CBS variety show of the same name from 1974 to 1976 alongside Tony Orlando and Joyce Vincent Wilson. In the late 1970s, she transitioned into acting, securing roles in various sitcoms. During the 1980s and 1990s, she held longer-running roles including Isabelle Hammond on Bosom Buddies from 1980 to 1982, Adelaide Addy Wilson on Gimme a Break! from 1983 to 1987, and Rachel Baines Crawford on Family Matters from 1989 to 1997. She starred as the lead actress in the series Getting By from 1993 to 1994. More recently, Hopkins has appeared as a regular cast member on Half & Half from 2002 to 2006, portraying Phyllis Thorne, and has also featured in Are We There Yet? from 2010 to 2013 and the short-lived Partners in 2014. In addition to her television career, she has co-starred in the 1984 science fiction film Trancers and its sequels Trancers II and Trancers III, as well as appeared in The Wood in 1999 and The Love Guru in 2008.
