  THIS PLAY MADE US UNCOMFORTABLE. AND THAT’S THE POINT. TJ & Sam spill the tea on The Radicalisation of Mrs Mary Lim-Rodrigues, a new Singapore play by Michelle Tan, directed by Edith Podesta for Wild Rice. This is a production that refuses to let its audience sit comfortably. Through a highly narrated, ensemble-driven style of storytelling, the play explores difficult questions around identity, education, mental health, suicide and the pressures placed on young people in Singapore. For TJ and Sam, that discomfort became one of the production’s biggest strengths. As TJ says in the review: “This play does not invite you to be comfortable at any point… and that is exactly why you should come and watch it.” The review also looks at the precision of Michelle Tan’s writing, Edith Podesta’s direction, Janice Koh’s detailed performance, the strong ensemble work and the production’s bold creative choices in sound, movement, set and costume. It is a night that asks audiences to think, question and sit with difficult ideas long after leaving the theatre.   Come From Away - "Spill the Tea" Theatre Review

  ✈️ THE END OF AN ERA TJ & Sam spill the tea on Come From Away, the final ever production from Pangdemonium Theatre Company. Staged 25 years after the events of 9/11, Come From Away tells the extraordinary true story of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, who welcomed thousands of stranded passengers when 38 planes were diverted following the closure of US airspace. For Pangdemonium’s final production, Timothy Koh directs a musical for the first time, with a version that moves away from some of the staging and design choices audiences may know from other productions. For TJ, this one was especially personal. Come From Away is one of his favourite musicals, but some of the new staging choices left him struggling to connect with moments he normally loves. Sam had a very different response, feeling the weight of the real history behind the show and becoming completely absorbed in the storytelling. So did this new interpretation work? And after more than 15 years of Singapore theatre, did Pangdemonium go out on a high?   TJ & Sam spill the tea on Moonlit City , Toy Factory Productions’ English-language musical inspired by the love story of Lee Kuan Yew and Kwa Geok Choo. We watched the show on opening night, Friday 14 August 2026, at Victoria Theatre — and this one left us with a lot to talk about. With an important Singapore story, familiar xinyao music and a major local production behind it, expectations were high. But for us, Moonlit City missed the mark, leading to our lowest score for a Singapore theatre production to date . In this episode, we unpack the storytelling, characterisation, music, staging and performances, and ask why a show with so much potential left us so disappointed.
