69. The Beliefs That Helped Ag Survive (And Now Hold It Back) — Part 2
Aug 18, 202630 minS2
In this episode, I continue unpacking the beliefs that have been passed down through agriculture and ask a bigger question: just because we’ve always believed something, does that mean we need to keep believing it? In Part 2 of this two-part series, I unpack beliefs eight through 15 and challenge the ideas that asking for help means you’ve failed, emotions don’t belong in agriculture, and you should already know everything. These beliefs can shape how we lead, handle pressure, build relationships, and define what it means to be strong. I talk about why asking for support can make you a stronger leader, how delegation builds people instead of dependence, and why communicating your value isn't the same as bragging. I also dig into emotional intelligence, protecting your boundaries during busy seasons, honoring tradition while staying open to growth, and the importance of staying curious when you don't know the answer. Most importantly, I challenge you to recognize the beliefs that may be keeping you stuck so you can decide what you want to carry forward and what you're ready to leave behind. What's covered in this episode: Why asking for help doesn't mean you've failed How delegation builds capable people and stronger leaders Why advocating for yourself isn't the same as bragging Why emotional intelligence belongs in agriculture How boundaries matter most during demanding seasons Why tradition and growth can coexist How curiosity and continuous learning can help you become a better leader Follow the AGRIMINDS Podcast so you don’t miss what’s next. 68. The Beliefs That Helped Ag Survive (And Now Hold It Back) — Part 1
Aug 11, 202629 minS2
In this episode, I challenge some of the beliefs that have been passed down through agriculture for generations. In Part 1 of this two-part series, I unpack the first seven of 15 unwritten rules that have shaped how we define strength, success, dependability, and commitment, but are now keeping us stuck. If you've ever been told to “suck it up,” felt guilty for saying no, or believed exhaustion is proof you're working hard enough, this conversation will make you question what you've always accepted as normal. I talk about why asking for help isn't weakness, the difference between complaining and communicating, how boundaries protect reliability, why investing in yourself matters as much as investing in your operation, and why sustainable hard work matters more than exhaustion. I also dig into the pressure to put yourself last for your family and the fear of “rocking the boat.” What's covered in this episode: Why “suck it up” can teach us to ignore important warning signs The difference between complaining and communicating when you need help How always saying yes can turn dependability into burnout Why investing in yourself is an investment in your operation Why exhaustion does not equal success or productivity Why taking care of yourself is not selfish, even when family comes first How avoiding conflict can create more problems instead of peace Follow the AGRIMINDS Podcast so you don’t miss what’s next. 67. Why Your Expectations Aren't Being Met: 4 Questions Every Leader Should Answer
Aug 4, 202623 minS2
In this episode, I talk about one of the biggest reasons expectations go unmet: we assume other people know what success looks like without ever clearly communicating it. Unspoken expectations almost always lead to unmet expectations, whether you're leading a team, raising kids, working with a spouse, or managing a business. If you've ever found yourself thinking, "I already told them," or "They should just know," this conversation will help you communicate with greater clarity and confidence. I break down four questions every leader should answer before handing off a task to set others up for success, not frustration. I talk about defining what success actually looks like, setting clear deadlines, empowering others to make decisions, and creating better communication loops. I also share why over-explaining can be just as harmful as under-communicating and how a few simple shifts can build more trust, ownership, and confidence in your team. What's covered in this episode: Why unspoken expectations almost always lead to unmet expectations The four questions every leader should answer before delegating a task How to communicate clearly without over-explaining or micromanaging Why defining success and deadlines leads to better results How to empower others to make confident decisions A simple way to confirm your message was understood correctly Why clear expectations build confident people and stronger teams Follow the AGRIMINDS Podcast so you don’t miss what’s next. 66. What Every Ag Professional Needs to Hear When Nothing Makes Sense
Jul 28, 202627 minS2
If you've ever questioned whether you're on the right path, felt discouraged because nothing seems to be working out, or wondered why life keeps taking unexpected turns, this conversation is for you. Sometimes the moments that make the least sense in the moment become the ones that shape us the most. In this episode, I share a story from my own journey that completely changed the direction of my life. I walk through the unexpected events that led me from corporate agriculture to coaching, speaking, and building AgriMinds, and why I couldn't see the bigger picture until years later. I also talk about the lessons I learned from setbacks, career changes, and difficult decisions, why there isn't always a "right" choice, and how trusting the process can help you keep moving forward even when the next step isn't clear. What's covered in this episode: Why life's biggest turning points rarely make sense in the moment How unexpected opportunities shaped the journey that became AgriMinds The lessons hidden inside setbacks, career changes, and disappointment Why there isn't always a single "right" decision to make How to keep moving forward when you can't see the bigger picture The importance of learning from every season instead of regretting it Finding hope and purpose even when the path ahead feels uncertain Follow the AGRIMINDS Podcast so you don’t miss what’s next. 65. BTS: I Was Triggered & Spiraling... So I Hit Record
Jul 21, 202620 minS2
In this episode, I do something a little different. Instead of following the script I had planned, I hit record in the middle of a frustrating day because I knew I wasn't the only one who feels like everything is falling apart sometimes. If you've ever found yourself overwhelmed, emotionally triggered, or wondering how you're supposed to keep showing up when nothing is going your way, this conversation is a reminder that you're not alone and that you don't have to pretend you have it all together. I share what was happening behind the scenes that day and walk you through the tools I use to calm my nervous system and process difficult emotions in real time. I talk about breathwork, finding moments of quiet, asking better questions, processing emotions out loud, and leaning on community instead of carrying everything alone. Most importantly, I hope this episode gives you permission to be honest about what you're feeling and reminds you that emotions are signals worth listening to, not something you have to ignore or push through. What's covered in this episode: What to do when everything seems to go wrong at once How I calm my nervous system during overwhelming moments Why emotions are signals instead of something to suppress Simple ways to process stress, including breathwork and talking it out The importance of finding people who can listen without trying to fix you Questions to help you understand what your emotions are telling you Why authentic leadership starts with being honest about your own struggles Follow the AGRIMINDS Podcast so you don’t miss what’s next.
