Nov 13, 202524 min
The 6-Month Acquisition War Zone: Inside the Multi-Million Dollar Deal That ALMOST Died Stop searching for a job and start buying profitable companies. This is the true acquisition playbook used by Patriot Growth Capital to close a multi-million dollar business acquisition—the 6-month war zone and mountain of due diligence nobody tells you about. Host Jeff Barnes walks through the harsh realities of securing an SBA loan (including the personal guarantee), vetting hundreds of businesses just to find one, and navigating the deadly financial pitfalls of a profitable company. If you want to build wealth by acquiring a business that runs on "autopilot", you must understand the difference between buying a business and buying a problem. In this episode, you will learn the secret strategies for successful M&A: • How to vet military veterans to become high-performing operators, ensuring your acquisition runs effectively without the founder. • The critical dangers of seller fatigue and financial "ad backs," which can derail a deal even after six months of intense underwriting. • Why finding a business that runs on documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is essential to prevent key team members from leaving upon closing. I Don't Trust You: Why Investors Reject Your Capital Raise.
Oct 27, 202532 min
Are you an entrepreneur or capital raiser failing to secure funding? This episode reveals the brutally honest reasons why investors say, "I don't trust you," and the uncompromising sacrifices required to raise 500,000 in three days** or even **1 million in 90 minutes. Jeff Barnes, host of the Angels Exits and Acquisitions Podcast, cuts through the "watered down" advice to explain the true Speed of Trust and why you must reject the "employee mindset" to attract serious investing capital. Learn why perseverance through unforeseen suffering and the relentless pursuit of experience are the only assets that matter. Key Takeaways to Build Investor Trust and Secure Capital: • Reject the Employee Mindset: Investors will not fund you if your goal is just to "punch the clock" and achieve "work-life balance". When you take a dollar from an investor, everything is your responsibility until they are paid back handsomely. • Suffering is Mandatory Experience: You must be "broken" like in Cool Hand Luke to learn the lessons and build the grit necessary to overcome the unforeseen challenges that always arise in business. • Credibility Requires Mastery: Stop memorizing and regurgitating advice. You must know your industry inside and out to such a degree that an expert cannot stump you, demonstrating true knowledge, wisdom, and experience. Major Timestamps: • 00:01 - The Problem: Why most advice on capital raising is watered down and ineffective. • 00:06 - Why you must be "broken" (The Cool Hand Luke Principle). • 00:13 - The $1 Million Trust Secret: Raising serious investing money from strangers quickly. • 00:15 - Why the Employee Mindset Instantly Kills Your Funding. • 00:23 - The Unforeseen Challenges (Wife Attempted Suicide) That Prove Your Perseverance. Your Startup SUCKS: The Real Reason You Can’t Raise Money
Oct 20, 202528 minS3
Stop blaming the "funding gap." The brutal truth is that there is more money available now than ever before in human history, but most early-stage startups genuinely suck. We unleashed a powerful, controversial rant directed at delusional founders who complain about a lack of early stage capital. If you think raising money is hard because there's no funding, you've got it wrong. The problem isn't a lack of money—it's a lack of resourcefulness, competence, and basic sales skills. Jeff explains why most investors are instantly turned off by founders who haven't put in the work, haven't suffered failure, and are demanding capital just to get out of the starting blocks. Learn the painful truth about raising capital in today's market, and why you must master accurate thinking and bootstrapping before you ever ask for a dollar Key Points You Will Learn: • The Funding Lie: There are collectively trillions of dollars available, including $4 trillion in private equity dry powder alone, sitting on the sidelines waiting for deals. The real gap is in competent operators and resourceful founders who know what they are doing. • The "Delulu" Founder Trap: Why believing your idea is "unique, one-of-a-kind, and brilliant" is a sign of dangerous delusion that causes investors to instantly distrust you. Investors HATE your pitch if you haven't sold a single thing or proven demand. • How Resourcefulness Wins: Jeff shares a recent story of raising a $500,000 shortfall in just four days from an unknown investor, demonstrating that capital flows instantly when founders are trustworthy and competent. You must fail and suffer to build the necessary grit and skills required to attract serious angel investing Major Timestamps: 00:00 - Intro: The investor shocker that started this rant. 01:30 - Where is the $4 Trillion? The truth about the capital surplus right now. 04:00 - Why most founders are "Delulu" (Delusional) and losing trust. 07:00 - The shocking story of how Jeff instantly raised $500K in 4 days. 20:45 - The Resourcefulness Gap: Why bootstrapping and failing is mandatory before raising capital Connect with Jeff Barnes: Website: https://www.jeffbarnes.ceo/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffpbarnes/ #StartupFundingSecrets #RaiseCapitalFast #FounderDelusion #AngelInvestingTips #VentureCapitalTruth #BusinessTruth #BootstrapBusiness #EntrepreneurMindset #FundingGapMyth #ResourcefulFounder #EarlyStageCapital #MoneySkills #Hormozi #StartupFails #JeffBarnes Learn more about your ad choices.
