Episode 385: AMNAM Spooktacluar 2026: Pumpkinhead (1988)
Spooktoberfest continues with the 1988 cult classic Pumpkinhead, a terrifying tale of vengeance written and directed by special-effects legend Stan Winston. Ed Harley’s peaceful life is shattered when his son is mortally injured by a group of teenage campers. Ed seeks the help of an old witch, but bringing the dead back to life is beyond her power. Instead, consumed by grief and rage, he has her summon an ancient evil known to the locals only as “Pumpkinhead.” Once conjured, Pumpkinhead cannot be stopped until his chosen victims are dead, and anyone who gets in his way meets the same gruesome end. While Pumpkinhead carries out the revenge Ed craved, Ed finds himself tormented by visions of the beast’s murders. Horrified by what he has unleashed, Ed resolves to save the remaining campers and end the nightmare he created. But can Pumpkinhead truly be defeated? Or has Ed already dug his own grave?
