When your Soul Thirsts | Pastor Sam Grosso
Have you ever felt downcast in a way you couldn’t explain—a fatigue you couldn’t name or an internal unrest you couldn’t fix? In Psalm 42, the psalmist describes his soul as a deer panting for flowing streams. His deepest need wasn’t merely physical, mental, or emotional relief; his soul was thirsty for the living God. In this message, we explore the Hebrew word “nephesh,” often translated as “soul” or “life.” Scripture presents the soul not simply as one part of who we are, but as the whole person—the center that holds together our memories, wounds, relationships, fears, desires, and beliefs. What happens within your soul will eventually reveal itself through your life. And when your soul is downcast, healing begins by bringing your thirst to the only One who can truly satisfy it. “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation.” — Psalm 42:5 ESV
