S2 E41 Simon Vaughan: Artists facing imposter syndrome
This week, we sat down with Simon Vaughan to talk about what it really means to nurture your creativity—especially when you don’t necessarily see yourself as an “artist.” Simon has built a creative life through photography, DJing, corporate events, music, and so many other artistic outlets, many of which he discovered later in life. We talked about starting new creative pursuits after 20, staying current in the arts community, and finding ways to keep creating even when life gets busy. We also got real about imposter syndrome —that feeling of wondering if you’re “really” an artist when you’re surrounded by people who seem more experienced or established. Simon’s story is a great reminder that sometimes you can be in high demand creatively and still struggle to recognize your own talent. Plus, we enjoyed some hilarious and memorable stories as a DJ and explored why dabbling in different creative fields might actually be one of the best ways to keep your artistic spark alive.
