Episode #45
Children of Light (Ephesians 5:3-14)
In this message from Ephesians 5:3–14, Pastor Casey McCall addresses the vital distinction between walking in darkness and living as "Children of Light". Addressing why Scripture uses such heightened language around sexual sin, Pastor Casey explains that God is not anti-sex—He created it to be a good, pleasurable sign pointing directly to the profound mystery of the gospel and the union between Christ and His church. Sexual immorality distorts that sign, promising a transcendence it can never deliver on its own and leaving a bored, boundary-pushing world deeply unsatisfied. Pastor Casey highlights four gospel keys to finding true joy and holiness in Christ:Embrace Holiness (vv. 3–4): Sexual immorality, impurity, and covetousness must not even be named among the church. As saints—chosen and set apart by God—we are called to be drawn to the beauty of holiness rather than discipled by a perverse culture. Weaponize Gratitude (v. 4): Sin is birthed out of a sense of lack, which is how the enemy constantly tempts us. Practicing daily thanksgiving shifts our mindset from lack to absolute fullness in Jesus, serving as a powerful tool in spiritual warfare. Be Warned (vv. 5–7): Living a lifestyle defined and enslaved by unrepentant sin proves that a person has no inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ. We must not be deceived by empty words that suggest grace allows us to live in the very sins Jesus died to destroy. Be Who You Are (vv. 8–14): We are no longer darkness; we are now light in the Lord. Walking as children of light means discerning what pleases God, producing fruit in all that is good, right, and true, and exposing the unfruitful works of darkness simply by living out the beauty of holiness. True liberation is found not by looking within to find an "authentic self," but by looking to Christ—our true self—and living out the freedom He has already secured for us. ️ Learn more at ashlandcc.net Stay connected with us on Facebook and Instagram!Subscribe for more sermons and share to encourage others!#Ephesians5 #ChildrenOfLight #GospelKeys #DailyRepentance #WalkInLight #AshlandCommunityChurch
