We've always assumed that means we haven't achieved enough yet. So we push harder. More output. More proving. More building. But here's what nobody told us: Success is what flows out of us. Satisfaction is what we let in. They are two completely different motions. We spent our whole lives perfecting the first one — and we never learned the second one at all. So we've been trying to solve a satisfaction problem with more success. That's like trying to fill a cup by pouring faster.   We finally took the vacation. We earned it. We booked it. We told everyone we were going to actually unplug this time. And within four minutes on that beach, we're thinking about the inbox. We come home somehow more tired than when we left. Or it's Sunday. Everything is actually done. The house is quiet. There is genuinely nothing that has to happen right now. And instead of relief, there's this low hum of dread we can't name. So we get up. And we find something to do. Because doing something — anything feels better than sitting in that. If you know exactly the feeling I'm describing — the rest that doesn't rest, the stillness that makes you anxious — this episode is for you. Because here's what I need you to hear: It isn't that we won't rest. It's that we can't. Not yet. IN THIS EPISODE: 🌸 The mean little story we've been telling ourselves — that we're bad at relaxing, that other people can rest and something's wrong with us. I want to take that story away from you. 🌸 The alarm: why the second we stop moving, something in our body says "this isn't safe, get up, do something" — and why we stopped hearing it as an alarm and started calling it guilt 🌸 Where the alarm came from — the mother who never sat down, being criticized when we were still and seen when we were useful, the house that wasn't calm.
