Episode #57
Your Holiday Isn't the Problem. Your Return Is.
Every summer the studio goes quiet, and every September the same conversation happens: three or four kilos on, routine gone, no idea how to start again. Most people try to solve this by white-knuckling their holiday. Protein targets on a sun lounger, guilt at the buffet, anxiety about a trip they've earned. It rarely works, and it ruins the week. In this short episode I make the case that the holiday was never the variable. If you've built a real routine beforehand, you'll drop straight back into it. If you haven't, no amount of restraint by the pool will save you, because there's no structure to return to. What's covered: Why the comeback, not the holiday, is the real marker of success What to do if you're early in your journey and have no routine yet to fall back on Treating the holiday as a test of your decision-making rather than a pass or fail The two-part return plan: first session booked, two meals in the freezer Hounds of Health — personal training studio, Wandsworth, London.
