Ditched Dispensationalism? Should You Be Anglican? - Father Ricky
TONIGHT LIVE at 8PM EST, we're sitting down with Father Ricky McCarl of Good Shepherd Anglican Church to continue a journey that has completely changed the way we think about church, theology, worship, and Christian tradition. For years, our Christian experience was heavily shaped by Calvary Chapel and dispensationalism. But after digging deeper into Scripture, church history, eschatology, and the development of Christian doctrine, we found ourselves questioning beliefs we once simply assumed were true. We eventually came to reject dispensationalism, including the theological framework surrounding the pre-tribulation rapture and the sharp distinction between Israel and the Church. But leaving one theological system creates another HUGE question: What comes next? That's where we are right now. Rather than immediately jumping into another denomination, we've been talking with Protestant pastors from different Christian traditions and trying to understand what they actually believe. Reformed. Presbyterian. Lutheran. Anglican. Baptist. Evangelical. Liturgical. Sacramental. What separates them? Which differences actually matter? And which tradition most faithfully represents Scripture and historic Christianity? Tonight we're exploring Anglicanism. Father Ricky McCarl is the rector of Good Shepherd Anglican Church, a parish within the Reformed Episcopal Church and Anglican Church in North America. Good Shepherd describes itself as a high-church Anglican parish affirming justification by faith and sola Scriptura while retaining episcopal church government, historic liturgy, weekly Communion, vestments, and other elements that can look surprisingly Catholic to Christians coming from modern evangelical churches. So we're asking Father Ricky EVERYTHING. What exactly is an Anglican? Are Anglicans Protestant or Catholic? Why do they have priests and bishops? What is apostolic succession? Why follow a liturgy? What is the Book of Common Prayer? What do Anglicans believe about baptism and Communion? How does Anglican theology compare with Presbyterianism, Lutheranism, Reformed theology, Baptists, Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and modern evangelical Christianity? And what would someone coming directly out of Calvary Chapel find completely different walking into an Anglican church for the first time? Father Ricky is uniquely suited for this conversation. He holds a Bible degree and an M.Div., has studied at Reformed Episcopal Seminary, and serves within the Reformed Episcopal tradition. This isn't about pretending we've already figured out where we're going. We haven't. That's the entire point. We're publicly working through the questions many Christians eventually face when they begin investigating beliefs outside the evangelical world they inherited. If you've ever questioned dispensationalism, the pre-trib rapture, Calvary Chapel theology, evangelicalism, church tradition, liturgy, sacraments, Protestant denominations, or what the earliest Christians actually believed, JOIN US LIVE.
