The White Crowd Beneath the Black Bodies!
In 1930 Marion, Indiana, three young Black men were accused of a violent crime before they ever had the chance to face a jury. Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith would never make it to trial. A white mob stormed the jail, dragged them into the streets, beat them, and lynched them while thousands watched. Sixteen-year-old James Cameron was nearly their third victim. In this episode, we confront the infamous photograph, the mob that showed its face without fear, and what happens when racial fear is given the power to become racial terror. Black Ivory Roots is more than a podcast. It’s a record of what was buried, a voice for what was silenced, and a truth they tried to erase. Each episode is crafted to uncover the stories history refused to tell, centering the lives, pain, resistance, and legacy of Black voices across generations. If this story moved you, share it. Keep the truth alive. Listen, reflect, and remember. Follow and support us for more untold American dark history.
