Both Sides of Success
Unscripted Success: Amanda Meyer on Growth and Resilience
Amanda Meyer: From Teacher to Travel Entrepreneur, Author & Suicide Prevention Advocate In this episode, Amanda Meyer shares her journey from growing up in Florida after moving from New York to building a multifaceted life as a former educator, model, travel entrepreneur, co-author, keynote speaker, and suicide prevention advocate. She describes starting in modeling and the bar/restaurant industry, returning to school as a non-traditional student, earning her degree from Clemson with two kids, and teaching in Greenville County Schools before leaving due to bureaucracy and burnout. Amanda explains how joining a travel-based network marketing business expanded her mindset through personal development, eventually outpaying her teaching salary and enabling her to go full time. She discusses how co-authoring a book opened doors to speaking, then recounts losing her son Logan to suicide in 2019 while she was abroad, which shaped her mission to normalize mental health conversations, recognize warning signs, and encourage people to ask, “Are you okay?”
