You Are Meant For More | Sam Beresford on ADHD, Courage & Walking Away
Aug 14, 202650 min
What if where you are right now isn't where you have to stay? In this episode of Brave Everyday , I’m joined by Sam Beresford for a conversation that goes much deeper than simply talking about what we do. We talk about ADHD, having a head full of ideas, believing that those ideas are actually possible, and the importance of not putting a limit on what your life could become. Sam shares his belief that “you are meant for more” and that wherever you are right now doesn't have to be where you stay. We also talk about something that takes an enormous amount of courage: walking away from the things that are destroying you. Because sometimes being brave isn't about fighting harder or holding on tighter. Sometimes it's knowing when something isn't good for you anymore, finding the strength to leave it behind, and accepting that you can still miss something, or someone, and know that walking away was the right thing to do. And, of course, we get into the big questions too... What does being brave actually mean? Because there isn't a manual for life. Your story isn't supposed to look like mine, and mine isn't supposed to look like yours. Your life is yours to write. This is a real, honest conversation about ADHD, ambition, self-belief, purpose, change, letting go and having the courage to believe that there is more for you. Unrealistic Expectations with Luke Leyland
Jul 24, 202648 min
In this episode of Tough Talks , Brave Everyday sits down with co-host Luke Leyland to unpack the messy, personal topic of unrealistic expectations — what they are, who sets them, and how they shape self-esteem. The conversation covers unrealistic expectations placed on single parents and working mums, outdated "Fred Flintstone" gender roles in the household, and the emotional load of being the one who "does it all." Luke opens up about a genuinely unrealistic ask, trying to arrange a fight in the Colosseum in Rome, and what he learned when the answer was a hard no. They also dig into how unrealistic expectations tie into low self-esteem and depression, why growing as a person can cost you certain friendships, and why setting boundaries and protecting your energy matters more with age. Expect honest, unfiltered perspective from two very different but aligned points of view, a mum's lens and a dad's lens on a topic that touches almost everyone. In this episode: Unrealistic expectations in parenting and relationships Gender roles and the mental load of working parents Luke's Colosseum story — reaching for the impossible Unrealistic expectations, self-esteem, and depression Growing apart from friends as you change Setting boundaries and protecting your energy
