D - What If the Feeling You Avoid Is Trying to Move You? Discomfort or Dance?
26 weeks. 26 letters. A word for every week of the year! Endless opportunities for connection. What if discomfort isn’t always something we need to escape? In this episode of Can You Hear You? the A–Z journey through the words, feelings and experiences that shape us , we explore two very different-looking words that may actually belong together: Discomfort and Dance . Discomfort can bring grief, awkwardness, sadness, uncertainty and fear. Our instinct is often to move away from it, return to what feels familiar and find comfort again. But what happens when we stay? Sometimes discomfort is information. Sometimes it is the body whispering, or shouting that something needs to change. Kelly explores those moments when we know something deep down but continue to ignore it because staying where we are feels safer. The “truth bumps.” The body tingles. The inner knowing. The moment life seems to remove the comfortable option altogether and asks: Can you hear me? Can you hear you? And then comes Dance . Movement offers another way of listening. Through music and dance we can move out of the thinking mind and back into the body allowing love, pain, excitement, grief, joy, laughter and everything in between to have somewhere to go. You’ll also hear Kelly’s poem The Dance , exploring trust, slowing down and remembering that life doesn’t always need to be rushed or controlled. This episode invites you to notice what you may be holding onto, what may be ready to fall away, and whether the discomfort you’re experiencing could actually be creating space for something new. Meet yourself exactly where you are — even if that place is uncomfortable. Then perhaps put on your favourite song, close your eyes and let your body move. Does the discomfort loosen its grip? Does something shift? Does something inside you finally get heard? Can You Hear You? 26 Words • 26 Weeks With Kelly Saward , author of Can You Hear Me?
