Hard skills open doors; soft skills keep them open. But which ones actually matter in a world where AI writes code and automates spreadsheets? In this series, Lucas and Luna strip the buzzwords from career development, examining real data from labor markets, HR surveys, and company case studies. Lucas walks through the skills-pyramid sketch on their classroom table — technical proficiencies at the base, cognitive abilities in the middle, and adaptability at the apex — while Luna tests each layer against concrete examples: a software engineer whose Java skills became obsolete, a project manager who thrived by mastering conflict resolution, a marketer who learned SQL and doubled her salary. Together, they explore how to map your current skill set against industry trends, where to invest your learning time for maximum return, and why employers like Google and McKinsey are quietly de-emphasizing college degrees in favor of demonstrated competencies. No empty promises about 'future-proofing

How Skill Signals Beat Skill Claims on Your Resume
Aug 21, 20269 minS4
In this episode of Career Skills with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the difference between claiming a skill and proving it. They dive into the concept of 'skill signals' — tangible artifacts and outcomes that make your abilities visible to employers — and contrast them with the vague keyword-stuffed resumes that get overlooked. They use the example of a project manager who transformed their resume from a list of duties into a portfolio of measurable impacts, complete with before-and-after numbers and a personal website. The hosts discuss why 'show, don't tell' works, how to identify your strongest signals, and how to weave them into your resume, LinkedIn profile, and interviews. They also touch on the psychology of hiring decisions and the power of concrete examples. If you're job hunting or looking to level up, this episode offers a practical framework for making your skills undeniable. #SkillSignals #ResumeTips #CareerGrowth #JobSearch #ShowDontTell #PortfolioCareer #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment #LucasAndLuna #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers #HardSkills #SoftSkills #FutureProofing #InterviewSkills #LinkedInTips #PersonalBrand Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Career Skills with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the idea of skill spotting — the practice of identifying which skills actually drive value in a given role or industry, then deliberately learning those first. They anchor the discussion in a concrete example: a product manager at a mid-sized software company who noticed that the most successful colleagues weren't the ones with the most certifications, but those who could translate customer pain into crisp requirements. The hosts break down how to observe what's rewarded, how to interview practitioners to uncover hidden skills, and how to build a 'skill map' for your own career. They also discuss a common trap: focusing on skills that are visible in job postings but rarely used in practice. By the end, you'll have a practical method for spotting the skills that matter in your field — and a better sense of how to prioritize your next learning investment. Tune in for a fresh angle on skill development that's less about what to learn and more about how to see what's worth learning. #SkillSpotting #CareerDevelopment #SkillsStrategy #LearningPriorities #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #SkillMapping #CareerAdvice #WorkplaceSkills #JobSkills #CareerStrategy #SkillLearning #FutureOfWork #CareerPlanning #SkillBuilding #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Career Skills with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the power of informal mentorships—the kind that develop naturally without formal programs or titles. They discuss why these relationships often outperform structured mentoring, how to cultivate them authentically, and the specific behaviors that turn a casual connection into a career-changing ally. With concrete examples from a software engineer's 'kitchen table' mentorship to a marketer's 'fellow traveler' relationship, they break down the three pillars of successful informal mentorship: proximity, reciprocity, and curiosity. Tune in to learn how to spot potential mentors in your daily work life, avoid the common pitfalls of forced networking, and build a mentorship ecosystem that grows with you. Whether you're just starting out or looking to level up, this episode offers practical advice for making meaningful professional connections that last. #InformalMentorship #CareerGrowth #Mentorship #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerAdvice #Networking #CareerSkills #WorkplaceLearning #GrowthMindset #CareerStrategy #Careers #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CareerPodcast #Mentoring #RelationshipBuilding #CareerSuccess Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How to Build a Skill Portfolio That Survives Automation
Aug 18, 20269 minS4
In this episode, Lucas and Luna tackle a question every professional is asking in 2026: which skills actually hold their value as automation spreads through white-collar work? They don't just wave at 'soft skills' — they drill into the concept of 'automation-resistant skill portfolios' using the example of a mid-career accountant who pivoted to forensic data analysis. The conversation breaks down how to identify complementarity between human judgment and machine speed, why 'learning how to learn' is a real skill with a measurable ROI, and a simple framework to audit your own portfolio against the risk of task-level automation. If you've ever felt uneasy about AI's impact on your job but didn't know how to act, this episode gives you a concrete starting point — no jargon, just a useful way to think about your career's next move. #SkillPortfolio #AutomationResilience #CareerStrategy #FutureOfWork #AIAndJobs #SkillAudit #ForensicAccounting #HumanJudgment #LearningHowToLearn #ComplementarySkills #CareerPivot #MidCareer #AutomationRisk #SkillStacking #LifelongLearning #Careers #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Career Skills with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the power of a structured skill audit—a systematic review of what you know, what you're learning, and what you should drop. They break down how to conduct one in an afternoon, using examples like a marketing manager who discovered her data analysis skills were more valuable than her social media expertise. The conversation covers how to assess skill demand in your industry, how to spot skills that are becoming obsolete, and how to turn your audit into a 90-day action plan. Lucas shares a simple scoring system for ranking your skills by proficiency and market value, and Luna offers tips on getting honest feedback from colleagues and mentors. By the end, you'll know how to run your own skill audit and why it's a smarter move than chasing every new trend. If you've ever felt stuck in your career or unsure what to learn next, this episode gives you a practical framework to take control. #SkillAudit #CareerGrowth #SkillAssessment #FutureOfWork #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerPlanning #SkillStack #LearningStrategy #CareerAdvice #JobMarket #LifelongLearning #CareerMobility #SkillGap #PersonalBrand #CareerStrategy #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
