Coach Donald Dodgen is one of the most respected names in Tennessee high school athletics. His remarkable 38-year coaching and administrative career has left an enduring legacy of excellence, leadership, and service. A standout player at Tennessee Wesleyan College , Coach Dodgen later returned to his alma mater as a successful coach, earning induction into the Tennessee Wesleyan Hall of Fame as both a player and coach. He is also a member of the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Hall of Fame , the Farragut High School Hall of Fame , the Knoxville Interscholastic League (KIL) Coaches Association Hall of Fame , and most recently the 2025 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Hall of Fame . Coach Dodgen began his coaching career at McMinn County High School , later coached at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School , and spent the majority of his career at Farragut High School , where he became synonymous with championship-level success. Over his career, Coach Dodgen compiled an outstanding 655-309 record in basketball. At Farragut alone, he recorded 308 victories , led the Admirals to the 1982 TSSAA State Tournament , and captured numerous district and region championships. In 2010 , Coach Dodgen became Athletic Director at Farragut High School , where his leadership elevated one of Tennessee's premier athletic programs. Under his direction, Farragut athletes and coaches have captured 13 TSSAA State Championships across multiple sports, reflecting his commitment to excellence beyond basketball. Coach Dodgen's impact extends far beyond wins and championships. He has spent nearly four decades developing young people, mentoring coaches, building winning cultures, and demonstrating what true servant leadership looks like.
