[EP 58] Confidence Looks Back. Self-Trust Looks Forward
What do you do when you’re facing something you’ve never done before? Confidence can only take you so far because confidence is built on evidence — past experience, past wins, and proof that you’ve handled something similar before. But eventually, you reach the edge of that evidence. That’s where self-trust takes over. In this episode, I talk about the difference between confidence and self-trust, why mistakes can quickly become evidence against ourselves, and how to use what you already know about yourself to move forward when the path ahead is uncertain. I also share what learning to play golf is reminding me about vulnerability, discomfort, mistakes, and being willing to be a beginner again. Because self-trust isn’t believing everything will work out exactly the way you want. It’s believing that whatever happens, you trust yourself to deal with what comes next. In this episode: Why confidence looks backward while self-trust looks forward How past experience becomes evidence you can stand on Why mistakes don’t have to mean anything about who you are The difference between self-trust and false certainty How to move forward when you genuinely don’t know what happens next One question to consider: What have you already done that gives you evidence about who you are when you’re in unfamiliar territory? https://audreyblair.com
