China's economy is the world's second-largest, yet its policy signals can feel opaque. Lucas and Luna cut through the noise each episode, examining Beijing's latest monetary and fiscal moves, trade tensions with the US and EU, and the ripple effects across Asia-Pacific markets. They ground every conversation in real-time data from Chinese industrial production, PMIs, and export figures — no punditry, just the numbers and the strategic outlook. Whether dissecting the PBOC's rate decisions, the impact of export controls on semiconductors, or the shifting dynamics of ASEAN supply chains, this show serves investors, analysts, and executives who need to understand China's role in global markets — not headlines, but the underlying incentives and constraints. Expect a calm, evidence-based dissection of what works, what doesn't, and what could change next. Lucas challenges official narratives with data; Luna asks the uncomfortable questions about debt, demographics, and decoupling. Each episod

Why China's Youth Are Returning to Smaller Cities
Aug 21, 202610 minS4
In episode 164 of China Economy with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore a quiet shift in China's labor market: young professionals are leaving megacities like Beijing and Shanghai for lower-tier cities, driven by a mix of remote work, regional policy incentives, and a re-evaluation of work-life balance. The hosts anchor the conversation in the latest data — including a recent dip in the youth jobless rate and a surprising surge in exports from inland provinces — and discuss what this means for real estate, consumption, and the broader economy. They also examine how smaller cities are competing for talent with subsidies and new infrastructure, and whether this could ease the pressure on China's housing market. With a mix of macro trends and on-the-ground detail, the episode offers a fresh angle on a story that's often dominated by gig work and tech layoffs. If you've wondered why China's youth are looking beyond the bright lights, this one's for you. #ChinaEconomy #YouthEmployment #SmallerCities #TalentMigration #RemoteWork #RegionalPolicy #Urbanization #LaborMarket #Consumption #HousingMarket #Trade #Exports #InlandProvinces #Economics #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #China Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why China's Youth Prefer Gig Work to Corporate Ladders
Aug 20, 20268 minS4
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore why China's youth jobless rate misses a bigger story: the rise of gig work. With the youth unemployment rate hovering near record highs, many young Chinese are choosing delivery driving, live-streaming, and other flexible gigs over traditional corporate jobs. But is this a free choice or a constrained one? Lucas unpacks data showing that gig workers now number over 200 million, and that platforms like Meituan and Ele.me are becoming primary employers. The conversation touches on the psychological appeal of autonomy, the erosion of the 'iron rice bowl' mindset, and what this shift means for China's productivity and social stability. Luna challenges the romanticized view, pointing to the lack of benefits and career paths. They also discuss how this trend is reshaping China's tech talent pipeline, with graduates increasingly viewing gig work as a legitimate career start. A must-listen for anyone tracking China's labor market or tech economy. #ChinaEconomy #GigEconomy #YouthUnemployment #ChinaLaborMarket #Meituan #Eleme #LiveStreaming #TechTalent #ChinaJobs #LaborForce #FutureOfWork #FlexibleWork #ChinaTech #Economics #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #AsiaMarkets Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
As US and China trade tensions resurface, Lucas and Luna unpack why Beijing's real policy priority isn't the trade balance but the yuan's stability. With the yuan holding at 6.74 per dollar and the dollar index slipping, Chinese policymakers are using a stable currency to anchor domestic expectations and court foreign capital. The hosts drill into the data: a 73 billion dollar goods and services deficit in June, exports still growing to 3.75 trillion annualized, and a current account gap that would have spooked markets a decade ago. They explain how Beijing's playbook has shifted from export-led growth to managed stability, and why that's reshaping everything from capital flows to equity valuations. Plus, a look at why Baidu's 11.7 percent five-day drop contrasts with Alibaba's 5.1 percent rise, and what the yuan's steadiness means for investors betting on Chinese assets. If you've ever wondered why the yuan doesn't swing wildly despite all the noise, this episode gives you the framework to see it clearly. #YuanStability #ChinaEconomy #TradeDeficit #CurrencyPolicy #ForeignExchange #BeijingPolicies #AsiaPacificMarkets #InvestmentStrategy #Alibaba #Baidu #CapitalFlows #MacroEconomics #EmergingMarkets #EconomicPolicy #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ChinaTrade #MonetaryPolicy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why Chinas Yuan Stability Matters More Than Trade Swings
Aug 18, 20267 minS4
On this episode of China Economy with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna look beyond the latest trade data to ask a quieter question: why has the yuan barely moved this month, even as the dollar weakens and global bond yields climb? With the trade-weighted dollar index drifting lower and the currency holding near 6.74 per dollar, they unpack what Beijing's apparent preference for stability means for exporters, importers, and the broader Asia-Pacific picture. They connect the dots between the recent drop in China-focused ETFs and the yuan's calm, and they discuss why a stable currency might be doing more heavy lifting for the economy than a headline-grabbing surplus or deficit ever could. If you've been watching the trade numbers and wondering what actually moves the needle, this episode gives you a clear framework. Lucas and Luna keep it concrete, pointing to specific data points and real-world implications, without losing the big picture. #YuanStability #ChinaEconomy #ChineseYuan #TradeDeficit #AsiaMarkets #ForeignExchange #CentralBankPolicy #DollarIndex #BondYields #ChinaTrade #FXI #KWEB #Economics #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ChinaMarkets #MonetaryPolicy #GlobalMacro Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
