The Strength to Build | Nehemiah 2:1-20
We're all building something. Whether it's our faith, our health, our relationships, our careers β life is a constant building process. And in that process, obstacles are inevitable. Nehemiah knew this well. Facing broken walls, hostile enemies, and an intimidating king, he did something powerful before he did anything else: He prayed. For four months, Nehemiah prayed and planned before he ever took a single step toward rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. And when God finally opened the door, Nehemiah recognized it wasn't his own strength or strategy that made it possible β it was the gracious hand of God. "The king granted my requests, for the gracious hand of my God was on me." β Nehemiah 2:8 What walls are broken in our lives today? What rubble are we staring at, wondering if restoration is even possible? Here's the truth the gospel declares: Jesus is the greater Nehemiah. He didn't come to restore broken walls β He came to restore broken souls. And His resurrecting hands can bring dead things back to life again. Whatever God is calling us to build, we can trust that He will strengthen our hands to accomplish His plans.
