Responsibility vs Surrender | Coastal Community Church
Galatians 5:22–23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self -control." Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." #1: Make the plan. Proverbs 21:5 "The plans of the diligent lead to profit, but the plans of the hasty lead to poverty." Proverbs 24:27 "Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house." Luke 14:28–30 "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.'" # 2: Live a principled life. Romans 12:11-12 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:18 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:19 "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." # 3: Surrender the outcome. We control because there is something we desperately want as the outcome. Control begins where trust ends.
