Machetes at a Wedding & Cake to the Face | Crack Me Up Ep. 27
Episode 27 of Crack Me Up has just about everything: machetes at a wedding, an eight-hour Wisconsin road trip, a DoorDash food bender, impressive patient wins and another WellnessOne birthday tradition that ends with cake all over Dr. K’s face. Aide is back from Wisconsin and tells us about her family wedding—including traditional Mexican dancing with actual machetes, an uncle dancing with a baby in one hand and a machete in the other, homemade food from the family, secretly supplied tequila and a road trip where a grocery bag full of bread somehow became the snack of choice. Then the conversation somehow turns into electric-car road trips, range anxiety, whether stopping more often might actually make your back and knees happier, and why being the passenger princess may—or may not—be better for your body. Back at WellnessOne, we share some patient progress we're genuinely excited about. One patient who had been struggling so much that mornings were difficult was able to go upstairs for the first time in about a year after beginning care. The team also discusses another patient dealing with tick-borne illnesses who is beginning to notice changes with her knees and is working toward getting back to activities she loves, including dancing with her husband. And then there's Dr. K's birthday. What started years ago with a cupcake to the face has escalated into a slice of cake and now a three-layer mini cake warmed in the microwave specifically so it would smash better . It's officially becoming a WellnessOne tradition—and apparently next year's logical progression is a sheet cake. Also in Episode 27: Aide driving nearly the entire trip home from Wisconsin Tesla charging strategies and intentionally getting dangerously close to 0% Lil Wayne's sleep schedule and questionable-but-amazing lyrics Panera, boba, mochi donuts and an accidental DoorDash marathon Why challenging patients sometimes produce the most rewarding wins The frustration of patients not following their recommended schedule Dr. K going to the dentist on his birthday and nobody telling him happy birthday Pink scrubs, Mean Girls references and "On Wednesdays we wear pink" Neon mullet wigs and a future Topgolf adventure Another update on The Hole , which somehow continues getting uglier A potential Crack Me Up road trip And another podcast ending caused by equipment deciding it had had enough It is culture, clinic life, patient progress, food, birthdays and the kind of conversations that somehow make perfect sense when you're part of the Crack Me Up crew.
