2026 Historic Homes & Landmarks Tour: Piermont Places & Sparkill Spaces
The September episode of “Crossroads of Rockland History” began streaming on Monday, September 21, at 10 am on all major podcast platforms and on the HSRC website. On the September 2026 episode of “Crossroads of Rockland History” host Clare Sheridan welcomed Daniel Sherman from the Piermont Historical Society . He discussed the Historic Homes & Landmarks Tour that will take place in Piermont and Sparkill on Saturday, October 3. This year's tour will take place in and around the Rockland Road Bridge Historic District, known as “The Birthplace of Piermont.” It is the oldest and most historic area of Piermont, and many of the surrounding buildings have maintained their 18th- and 19th-century character. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the oldest house in Piermont is here and once hosted George Washington. The house tour will be a self-guided walking tour on which a number of houses and other significant sites within and near the Historic District, and in nearby Sparkill, will be open to the public. The tour promotes both these Orangetown communities and their historic importance to our region.
