Aug 18, 20268 minS1
Episode 96: 5 Tips for Maximizing Your Focus with Bri Pollard Feeling distracted or overwhelmed by everything on your to-do list? In this episode, Hannah welcomes Heron House Management Operations Manager Bri Pollard to share five practical strategies for staying focused in a distraction-filled world. Bri breaks down simple ways to create a clear finish line, protect your focus time, reduce digital distractions, use accountability, and create a work environment that helps you get things done. Key Takeaways Pick one specific task instead of trying to tackle everything at once. Give your task a clear, achievable finish line. Create and protect dedicated time blocks. Use Do Not Disturb to filter unnecessary distractions. Try co-working or body doubling for added accountability. Find music or background sound that helps put you in your focus zone. Guest Quotes “You really have to protect that time block once you create it.” “Just put that thing on Do Not Disturb so you can really be focused.” “You don't want the music to distract you, you want that to put you in your focus zone.” Resources Mentioned Hawkeye Focus Coaching – Focused work and accountability support for ADHD entrepreneurs and executives. Ep 95 - Caroline Dilbeck - Creating Equity at Home
Aug 11, 202610 minS1
Creating Equity at Home with Caroline Dilbeck What if creating more equity at home isn’t about getting your partner to “help” more—but about actually transferring ownership? In this episode of De-Stress the Nest , Hannah Morgan talks with Caroline Dilbeck, founder of Home Team Playbooks, about using clarity and household systems to make true ownership possible. Caroline explains why so many delegation problems are actually clarity problems and shares a practical example of how to take information out of your head so another person can confidently take responsibility. Key Takeaways Equity means transferring ownership not just delegating tasks. Clear expectations make it easier for another person to successfully own a responsibility. Define the outcome, timing, method, and contingency plan. Household knowledge shouldn’t live entirely in one person’s head. Focus on the outcome instead of expecting everything to be done exactly your way. Good systems empower spouses and children to work more independently. True handoff creates more margin and breathing room. Guest Quotes “You can create ownership through clarity.” “The task, feed the dog, is actually a whole sequence of many steps that usually only live in one person’s brain.” “You’re training someone to start to think independently.” “That’s what creates that capacity and that margin and that white space on your calendar and breathing room that we’re all searching for.” Resources Mentioned Home Team Playbooks — Founded by Caroline Dilbeck. Home Team Playbooks creates digital home management playbooks designed to help families build clear systems, share household responsibilities, and create more breathing room at home. Ep. 94 - Boundaries That Every Mom Building a Business Needs with Kristina Molinaro
Aug 4, 202610 minS1
How do you build a business without allowing work to take over every available moment? Kristina Molinaro, co-founder of the furniture company 25 and Pine, joins Hannah to share the boundaries and planning systems that help her balance entrepreneurship with raising her young son. Kristina explains how she protects nap time as a dedicated work container, chooses different tasks for childcare days, and uses a running task list to stay focused. She also shares how she uses AI to organize her workload, estimate how long projects will take, and turn an overwhelming list into a realistic plan. Key Takeaways Establish a firm, protected window for focused work. Assign specific responsibilities to different sections of the day. Match each task to the time and environment best suited for it. Keep a big-picture task list, then narrow it into weekly priorities. Use realistic time estimates to make large projects feel more manageable. Let planning tools carry some of the organizational mental load. Quotes “My work window is my nap time.” “Just keeping dedicated time to each section of the day just helps my brain organize it.” “I have two hours. I don’t have time around this.” “I’ll keep my list, and then I upload it, and I’m like, great, one less thing I have to think about.” Resources Mentioned 25 and Pine – Kristina Molinaro’s furniture company, co-founded with her husband, Nick. The company creates durable, multipurpose furniture designed for both children and adults. The Everyday Set – A multipurpose furniture set from 25 and Pine that can function as child-sized seating or be flipped and repurposed as a coffee table and side tables. Claude – An AI tool Kristina uses to organize weekly business tasks, separate work by time and setting, and estimate how long individual tasks may take. What if one of the best ways to take care of your family was taking care of yourself first? Therapy is often misunderstood as something reserved for moments of crisis, but in reality, it can be one of the healthiest forms of self-care. In this episode of De-Stress the Nest , Hannah Morgan sits down with entrepreneur, content creator, and City Mouse founder Alex Rutkay to discuss why therapy deserves a place in every working parent's toolkit. Together they explore how mental health support has evolved, why finding the right therapist matters, how therapy looks different in different seasons of life, and where AI may—and may not—fit into the future of mental wellness. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, or simply trying to become a healthier version of yourself, this conversation is a reminder that asking for help isn't weakness—it's wisdom. Key Takeaways Therapy is one of the most powerful forms of self-care—not just a tool for times of crisis. Seeking support during difficult seasons is a sign of strength, not weakness. Finding the right therapist can make all the difference in your mental health journey. Processing life's challenges is healthier than simply pushing through them. Conversations around mental health are becoming more open, helping to break long-standing stigma. AI can complement mental wellness practices, but it can't replace meaningful human connection. Investing in your own well-being allows you to show up more fully for your family and the people you love. Quotes "The person I was when I started therapy versus the person I am now are two very different people." "Therapy is a beautiful thing—to know thyself." "If you're saying the same thing week after week, pay attention to it… and then grow from it." "When you need a new set of tools to get through a difficult season, therapy can provide that." "There's a real benefit to talking to another human being and getting to know yourself better that way."
