Ray Reed on Denver Hip-Hop, Finding His Sound & Staying Hungry | Digging Deeper Ep. 9
Aug 19, 202633 minS1
Welcome back to Digging Deeper with Dialed In Gummies! The podcast where we go beyond the product and into the people, passion, and stories shaping the cannabis world. As part of The Summer Set and our celebration of Hip Hop, we sit down with Denver-born rapper Ray Reed, an artist who's spent more than a decade building his sound, telling his story, and carving out his own lane in Colorado's music scene. Born in Denver and raised between Colorado and Texas, Ray's path to music wasn't always straightforward. Sports, the streets, and the experiences of his early life eventually gave him something to talk about and music became a way to tell those stories while giving hope to people who came from similar circumstances. Throughout the conversation, Ray takes us back to his early influences, from Lil Wayne and Cash Money to Master P and No Limit, and reflects on beginning to write music as a kid before taking his career seriously around 2011. We also get into his creative process, his relationship with cannabis, balancing music and fatherhood, the energy he gets from performing live, and the moment he realized his music was reaching people beyond his immediate circle. And for any artist wondering whether to keep going, Ray keeps the message simple: everybody is one song away. Whether you've been following Ray Reed's journey or you're discovering him for the first time, this episode is a deeper look at the experiences, mindset, and work behind one of Denver's rising voices in hip-hop. Marcus “bubbleman” Richardson on Creating Bubble Bags & Cannabis Activism | Digging Deeper Ep. 8
Jul 29, 202637 minS1
Welcome back to Digging Deeper with Dialed In Gummies, the podcast where we go beyond the product and into the people, passion, and stories shaping the cannabis world. Marcus “bubbleman” Richardson returns to continue sharing the remarkable journey that made him one of the most influential figures in modern solventless cannabis. Marcus reflects on his early hemp activism in Manitoba, where he and a small group of advocates helped secure the province’s first experimental hemp-growing license in more than 70 years. He also discusses his move to British Columbia, his work alongside Hilary Black and the BC Compassion Club, and the role cannabis played in supporting some of Canada’s most vulnerable patients. The conversation then turns to the moment that changed the direction of his life. After an arrest forced Marcus to leave cannabis distribution behind, a simple suggestion from his wife led them to create the first Bubble Bags from their home. What began with a sewing machine, a camera, and a few thousand dollars would eventually help transform hash making and introduce solventless extraction to people around the world. Marcus also opens up about psychedelics, mentorship, humility, the early days of online cannabis culture, and why the wrong note can sometimes lead you exactly where you need to go. Ezra Hagerty on Building Picnic & Greenhouse Cannabis | Digging Deeper: On the Road Ep. 5
Jul 8, 202615 min
Welcome back to Digging Deeper with Dialed In Gummies! The podcast where we go beyond the product and into the people, passion, and stories shaping the cannabis world. In this episode, we sit down with Ezra Hagerty, CEO of Picnic, a Massachusetts cannabis cultivator that's redefining how premium cannabis is grown. Instead of following the traditional indoor model, Picnic built its business around a mixed-light greenhouse and high-quality fresh frozen flower, becoming one of the state's go-to cultivation partners for solventless hash and rosin brands. Ezra's cannabis journey started long before legalization, growing up in Vermont, where cannabis was simply part of the culture. After helping launch dispensaries with Silver Therapeutics, he joined Picnic to lead the company through its next phase of growth, building a cultivation business focused on quality, sustainability, and supplying premium fresh frozen flower to some of Massachusetts' top hash makers. In this episode, we dig into Ezra's path from Vermont to the legal cannabis industry, why Picnic chose greenhouse cultivation over traditional indoor grows, the strategy behind becoming a dedicated supplier for solventless extraction, how the company has navigated Massachusetts' rapidly evolving cannabis market, and what's next as Picnic continues to expand its footprint.
