Episode 58: Carers Matter Too!
Today we discuss the many aspects to the carer role so dangerously, insensibly and illogically ill-met by the specialised health care services a carer needs to support a loved one. The weight of expectation placed by professional health support services upon a lay person supporting a loved one, with a mental or physical health care needs, presents inevitable mental health care risks to unqualified family members. Please be mindful of your limitations, and ensure that you seek out the essential professional health support services you need which are vital to protecting you, and those who are vulnerable who are placed within your charge. Please remember we are not clinicians, psychologists or ED specialists. Our aim is to contribute to the field of understanding around eating disorders, and mental health support, through our lived experience, and our ongoing understanding and application of continually developing professional expertise and advice.
