8 years ago, Málaga dropped out of La Liga and it looked as if the Spanish top flight was about to lose one of their biggest clubs forever. Following that relegation, the club from the Costa del Sol have been on a troubled journey that saw them even get relegated to Spain's dread El Pozo, the third tier of Spanish football where some clubs never return. Fast forward 4 years later, in a turn of events built on the never say die attitude of Malaguistas, the club lined up this Wednesday against the might of Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid in a return to La Liga that nobody expected.
