Wide Receiver
What kind of people does Jesus welcome? In Part 1 of our new series, Falling, Pastor Thomas-Steele sets the stage for one of Jesus’ most famous stories—the parable of the prodigal son. Before Jesus ever tells the story, Luke tells us that sinners and tax collectors were drawing near to Him while the Pharisees stood back and grumbled. In “Wide Receiver,” we discover the heart of Jesus toward people who are far from God: Jesus gives access to the outcast, receives sinners in order to restore sinners, and calls His followers to celebrate whenever grace brings someone home. This message challenges both the rebellious and the religious to examine how we respond to the grace of God—and reminds us that Jesus gladly welcomes anyone who comes to Him in repentance. The sinners drew near. The Pharisees stood back. And Jesus was ready to receive them all. Join us as we begin Falling and prepare to see the story of the prodigal son in a whole new way.
