Ep. 28: Shark Tank's Nelson Brooks on Building a Billion-Dollar Party Empire
Aug 17, 202635 minS1
"$225K for 10%. He left owing 32%. Still called it a win." In this episode of Elevate the Hustle, Stan and Dom sit down with Nelson Brooks, founder of Cabana Boys Events, who built an 8,000-party empire before Shark Tank ever called, for a real conversation on Shark Tank negotiations, scaling a service business, and knowing when to ask for help. Nelson breaks down: How he walked in asking for $225K at 10%, got countered at 40%, and negotiated down to 32% Why he applied to Shark Tank because growth had plateaued and shrunk, not because things were going great His plan to turn Cabana Boys into a billion dollar, franchised hospitality brand If you've ever had to give up more than you wanted just to get the help you needed, this episode is for you. How to Scale a Family Insurance Agency Through 20+ Acquisitions ft Marc Duffy | Elevate The Hustle
Aug 3, 202646 minS1
He lost his father at 26, inherited a family business he wasn't ready for, and turned it into an 80-person insurance agency with 20+ acquisitions. In this episode of Elevate the Hustle, Stan Meytin and Dom Piccirillo sit down with Marc Duffy, who took over his family's insurance agency at 27 and scaled it through M&A into one of the largest independent agencies in Greater Boston. Marc opens up about the moment his father passed away in 2011, the guilt of "not pulling his weight" in the years before, and the wake-up call that forced him to grow up fast. He also breaks down the mistake that almost derailed the business early on (trying to grow 10x in a year), the exact formula he uses before buying any agency, and why he still believes independent insurance agents will win in the age of AI. What you'll hear: – Taking over a family business at 27, right after losing his father – The biggest mistake he made trying to 10x growth in a year – The 3 non-negotiables he looks for in every hire – His exact due diligence formula before buying an agency (20+ deals and counting) – Why he believes AI is an opportunity, not a threat, for independent agents – What he'd tell his 22-year-old self about patience and building for the long term Behind this show is Elevate Teams, helping insurance agency owners scale operations, build offshore talent, and grow without burning out. What Every Stuck Insurance Agency Owner Gets Wrong About Growth
Jun 9, 202657 minS1
In this episode of Elevate the Hustle, Stan Meytin and Dom Piccirillo sit down with Kim Ades, founder of Frame of Mind Coaching and one of the most respected executive coaches in the entrepreneurial world. Kim started selling back massages on Cape Cod at 10 years old, built simulation-based assessments that tested every measurable trait in high performers, and discovered that emotional resilience beats all of them. She has since coached hundreds of business owners and executives across the USA using a journaling-based methodology that gets inside how a leader thinks and changes it from the inside out. She also shares the story of an emergency appendectomy, a CT scan that found a mass on her kidney, and a Zoom call from a friend in a hospital gown with stage four bladder cancer and six to nine months to live. And what she built from both. ═══════════ What you'll hear: Why emotional resilience is the single biggest predictor of success for any insurance agency owner or independent agent The journaling method Kim uses to surface the hidden beliefs quietly running your agency without your permission Why most agency owners come to Kim wanting to grow their revenue and leave realizing the work starts with them The two journaling prompts that will show you exactly what is getting in the way of your growth What great leadership actually looks like when everything around you is out of control How to build emotional resilience as a muscle regardless of where you are starting from Subscribe, drop a comment, and share this with an agency owner who needs to hear it. 📩 Want to be on Elevate The Hustle or collaborate with us? Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
