I discovered Scott through Substack, where he writes Love and Other Survival Skills. I love that Scott puts love first. (How’s that for a little redundancy?) I personally believe we’re all here to align with the frequency of love. It is the ground we all stand on. For Scott, the foundation of true connection begins with love and a sense of community. In this conversation, we explore how connection, compassion, and co-regulation can help us navigate life's uncertainty and these in-between times. Together, we look at what it means to move beyond "othering" and create a deeper sense of belonging, inclusion and collaboration. As old systems begin to shift, we explore how we can remain connected and cultivate a more compassionate, human way of being in the world. We also talk about how connection not only helps us navigate change, but also inspires resilience, hope and a greater capacity to care for one another.   Ep #355 - Surviving A Narcissistic Relationship - An Interview with Nilgun Tulu I am truly honored to have this beautiful woman joining me for this conversation. It is my privilege to welcome Nilgun Tulu to Empowering Chats. Nilgun spent 20 years with a narcissist. 13 of those years in a marriage. In the beginning, he appeared to be the prince on the white horse. He knew exactly how to make her feel special, showering her with attention, affection, and what seemed like perfect love. But it wasn’t perfect. She met him when she was just 24 years old. He was nearly 20 years her senior, though he initially hid his age from her. She was young and vulnerable and adjusting to be a foreigner in the United States. Like many women in similar situations, she was naïve and fell under his spell. After some time together, she returned to her home country and they maintained a long-distance relationship before eventually marrying. There were warning signs along the way, but she believed many of the behaviors he exhibited were normal, so she stayed committed to the relationship. Eventually, they moved overseas. That is when things began to change. He started blaming her for everything and refused to take responsibility for his own actions. When she returned to the United States, he stayed behind and maintained control of their finances. What she later discovered was devastating. He had been planning much of this all along, keeping her completely in the dark. He hid money, removed funds from their joint accounts, and manipulated her into questioning her own reality, making her feel confused, delusional, and doubtful of herself. So how is she moving forward? Nilgun is fighting for what she legally deserves after years of hard work and contribution to the marriage. She is not willing to simply walk away and allow his current wife to benefit from what she rightfully earned. Her ex believes she deserves none of it. But just because a woman does not work outside the home does not mean she is not working. The labor of a wife, partner, or stay-at-home mother carries tremendous value. Women often manage households, provide emotional support, raise children, and keep families functioning—all without receiving a paycheck. That work matters. It has value. And Nilgun’s story is a powerful reminder that every contribution to a partnership deserves to be recognized.   Ep #354 - When Our Pets Speak, Are We Listening? An interview with Animal Communicator, LeeAnna Lorefice I am so happy to welcome LeeAnna Lorefice to Empowering Chats. LeeAnna is an intuitive empath who is gifted with the ability to communicate energetically with animals. Her purpose it to help deepen the connection between humans and the animals they love. I began my chat with LeeAnna by asking her to share how she discovered her unique gift. She shared that this ability has always been a part of her life – in fact she assumed that everyone had this gift. It wasn’t until later in her life that a friend pointed out just how special gift truly was. As a child LeeAnna recalls always being in touch with nature, gardening and animals. She was forever rescuing birds and bringing home stray animals. While her intuitive abilities could be used to help people as well, she found herself especially drawn to working with animals. Over time, she chose to focus and develop her gifts in that direction, dedicating herself to strengthening communication between animals and their human companions. She expressed that during her sessions her focus is primarily with the animal. However she always leave a door open to receive intuitive hits that also pertain to the “human” parent. She trusts that intuition although her focus is primarily with the animal, she recognizes that whatever information comes through it is there to serve the highest good of both the pet and the pet owner. One of the most fascinating parts of our conversation was LeeAnna’s belief that animals, much like humans, have a soul purpose. According to LeeAnna, “Every animal has a soul contract that they come into this planet with – there is no mistake that our pets often come into our lives for a reason. They have lessons they want to teach us and want us to learn. These animals are all here to teach us lessons.” LeeAnna also spoke about the deep rewards of her work. One of the greatest joys is hearing from pet owners who, after working with her, feel more connected to their animals and more confident in their ability to listen to and communicate with them. This conversation offers a heartfelt look into the extraordinary bond between humans and animals and the many ways that connection can enrich our lives.
