Lucas and Luna strip the mystique from executive career transitions. In each episode, they examine one concrete career move — a VP of Product becoming a Chief Innovation Officer, a CFO exiting to a PE-backed portfolio company, a General Counsel landing a board seat — and trace the actual mechanics: the search process, the compensation architecture, the political calculus inside the hiring organization. Lucas brings the journalist's eye for precedent and market data; Luna presses on the human dimensions — how to read a boardroom, when to walk away from an offer, what to disclose and what to protect. They name real executives, real searches, real offer letters. No generic advice about 'building your personal brand.' Instead: a breakdown of how a Fortune 500 CMO structured her transition to a private-equity portfolio CEO role, or why a particular SVP chose to take a lateral title for a 40% equity upside. The show serves the senior leader who has already read the standard career books and

How Executives Handle a Counteroffer From Their Current Employer
Aug 21, 20268 minS4
When a senior leader resigns, the counteroffer is rarely about money — it's about power, timing, and leverage. In episode 166, Lucas and Luna break down why most executive counters fail within a year, what to do when your CEO suddenly offers a bigger title, and why the exit conversation is the most honest negotiation you'll ever have. They walk through a real-world scenario: a chief marketing officer who was handed a 30 percent raise and the C-suite seat she'd been chasing for two years — then quit anyway. With practical advice on how to respond, what to ask, and when to walk away, this episode is a must for anyone who has ever wondered if staying is the smarter move. #ExecutiveCareers #Counteroffer #CareerStrategy #SeniorLeadership #JobOffer #Negotiation #CLevel #Resignation #CareerAdvice #Leadership #Careers #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ExitStrategy #DemandPlanning #PowerDynamics #Leverage Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Executives Rebrand Themselves for a New Industry
Aug 20, 202611 minS4
In this episode of Executive Careers with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore the art of industry pivots for senior leaders. When a VP or C-suite executive decides to move from, say, consumer goods to technology, the biggest hurdle isn't learning the new domain—it's shedding the old label. We break down the story of a retail operations executive who successfully moved into fintech by reframing her achievements in terms of risk, scale, and digital transformation. We discuss the three shifts in language that signal adaptability, the danger of leading with titles instead of capabilities, and why your network's perception matters more than your resume. If you're an executive considering a cross-industry move, this episode offers a concrete framework to reposition your narrative without erasing your track record. Tune in for practical advice on rebranding yourself for a new industry. #ExecutiveCareers #CareerPivot #IndustryRebrand #LeadershipStrategy #C-Suite #VPLevel #CareerTransition #PersonalBranding #ExecutiveSearch #FintechCareer #RetailToTech #Careers #Business #Leadership #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ExecutiveCoaching #CareerStrategy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Executive Careers, Lucas and Luna unpack the uncomfortable but increasingly common situation of reporting to a younger boss. They trace the shift through the tech sector and into the Fortune 500, where the median CEO age has dropped noticeably. They share a specific Fortune 100 example where a 39-year-old now runs a division that employees twice his age. The conversation covers the emotional sting of seeing a younger peer promoted past you, the strategic advantage of reverse mentorship, and a practical framework for reframing the dynamic from threat to opportunity. They also get honest about the moments when it's time to leave. Expect concrete advice on how to signal value to a younger leader, what questions to ask in your first one-on-one, and why your experience remains your strongest asset, even when the org chart says otherwise. #CareerStrategy #ExecutiveLeadership #YoungBoss #ReverseMentorship #AgeDiversity #WorkplaceDynamics #CareerGrowth #LeadershipAdvice #ExecutiveCareers #HRInsights #TechLeadership #Fortune500 #SuccessionPlanning #MentoringUp #OfficePolitics #ExecutiveCoaching #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Executive Careers, Lucas and Luna tackle a topic many senior leaders face but rarely discuss openly: the career plateau. Using the example of a fictional chief financial officer who has been in the same role for five years without a promo, they explore the hidden costs of staying put, the warning signs that a plateau has become a trap, and practical strategies for reigniting momentum or recognising when it's time to move on. Drawing on recent data about executive tenure and internal mobility, they discuss how to reframe a plateau as a strategic opportunity, the role of visibility and networking within your own organisation, and the delicate art of having an honest conversation with your boss about growth. The episode also touches on the psychological aspects—why some executives resist making a change and how to overcome inertia. By the end, listeners will have a clear framework for assessing their own situation and a set of tangible actions to take, whether they aim to break through the ceiling or exit gracefully. This is a must-listen for any senior leader who has ever felt stuck but didn't know what to do about it. #CareerPlateau #ExecutiveCareers #LeadershipGrowth #CareerStrategy #SeniorLeadership #ExecutiveMobility #CareerAdvancement #ExecutiveCoaching #InternalMobility #CareerTransition #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutivePresence #CareerPivot #ExecutiveNetworking #BoardCareer #Business #Careers #FexingoBusiness Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Executives Set Boundaries Without Burning Bridges
Aug 17, 202612 minS4
In this episode of Executive Careers, Lucas and Luna explore how senior leaders can set professional boundaries without damaging relationships or reputations. Drawing on the case of a tech company's VP of Engineering who turned down endless after-hours requests while keeping her team's respect, they discuss why boundary-setting is a core leadership capability, not a luxury. They unpack the difference between firm boundaries and rigid walls, how to communicate limits with transparency and reciprocity, and how to handle pushback from bosses and peers. With practical tactics like the 'shared calendar' approach and the 'time audit' conversation, they offer a playbook for protecting your time without seeming difficult. The conversation also touches on how boundaries shift when you move to a new role or organization, and why saying 'no' can sometimes be the most strategic career move. Tune in for a candid, tactical conversation about leading with clarity and self-respect. #LeadershipBoundaries #ExecutiveCareers #CareerStrategy #WorkLifeBalance #SeniorLeadership #TimeManagement #CareerAdvice #BoundarySetting #ExecutiveCoach #ManagementTips #LeadershipSkills #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalBoundaries #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutiveLeadership Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
