Joseph “Jody” Spence is an American filmmaker, writer, and musician. He is a three-time Emmy Award-winner whose credits include such artists as Taylor Swift, Jon Bon Jovi, Brandi Carlile and Cheap Trick to name a few. Most recently, he directed and edited three music videos for the legendary Steve Martin, Jackson Browne, and Alison Brown. In addition to his work in music videos and commercials, Spence has written and directed two award-winning independent features that have earned him both a Telly Award and an IBMA Award. His television credits include popular shows like Dancing With The Stars (ABC), Say Yes To The Dress (TLC), Bring It (Lifetime), The Steve Harvey Show (WB), and Sports Science (ESPN). Spence’s artistic roots were in music, where he began as a touring drummer alongside his older brother Judson Spence (Atlantic Records). After touring, he worked as an engineer and music producer, contributing to the early development of artists such as Holly Williams, Greta Gaines, Daniel Tashian, and Ben Folds. Additionally, he served as a staff writer for Sony Music Publishing and was a founding member of the power pop band The Semantics (Geffen Records). A versatile creator with a deep passion for storytelling across multiple mediums, Spence continues to make a significant impact in music, film, and television.
