Episode 24: Forged Through the Breakdown | Alexis Abate
Sometimes the moments that feel like they’re breaking you are actually forcing you to become someone new. In Episode 24 of Forged for Greatness , Chris sits down with therapist Alexis Abate for a raw conversation about relationships, health, loss, healing, and the seasons of life that shape who we become. Alexis opens up about going through a devastating breakup that became an unexpected awakening. It forced her to question what she wanted out of life, what she needed from a future partner, and why certain people may enter our lives for a season—not necessarily forever, but long enough to teach us something. But the emotional battle was only part of her story. Alexis’s health began to deteriorate. Her body felt like it was shutting down. She experienced severe inflammation, swollen lymph nodes, brain fog, skin issues, and other symptoms while struggling to understand what was happening. Eventually, testing revealed exposure to multiple types of mold, including black mold. She packed her car, left the environment behind, and went to live with her Nonna. What followed was more than physical healing. Alexis began recognizing a powerful parallel between the toxicity in her physical environment and the relationships and situations in her life that were no longer serving her. The conversation also explores the seasons we all experience—the winters where relationships end and pieces of our old lives die, and the springs and summers where something new begins to grow. This episode is about learning to listen to yourself, letting go of what you’ve outgrown, finding meaning in painful seasons, and realizing that sometimes the breakdown is exactly what leads to the breakthrough. This is Alexis Abate’s story of being Forged for Greatness.
