  #837: Why Your Decisions Don’t Matter

  How long does it take you to decide what you’re wearing each day? What you’re having for breakfast, etc. Or any decisions that are focused on the little things I used to believe many of my choices were life or death, at least they felt that way! Don't disrupt, don't upset anyone, just go along with it. That was my 20s, and it never got me what I wanted, and that wasn’t clear either…what did I want? The ego doesn't care if you're happy. It only cares that you survive, so it drives you to win, to please, to avoid conflict, and calls it a decision. I watched my mother do this in real time — always to gain control, punish or prove a point. Unfortunately, most of it is self-sabotage, and she called it freedom. Surviving and being happy are not the same goal. Winning equals surviving. Happiness is something else entirely. Just because you won doesn’t mean you’re happy.
