  "Let your yes be yes, your no be no. Anything more than that comes from the evil one." Jesus is blunt about this. It's a simple standard that's brutal to actually live by. A dad realizes he's said "I'll be there" more times than he's meant it. Discipline gets promised and then quietly skipped because follow-through is harder than the threat. This week we look at Matthew 5 and keep coming back to the same point: your word is either good or it isn't. From there it gets harder still. Turn the other cheek. Love your enemies. Nobody pretends those are easy verses. We talk through business relationships that fell apart, family conflict, and what it actually costs to stay steadfast when someone's trying to provoke a reaction out of you. Following through is about becoming a man whose word means something, especially when nobody's watching and it costs you to keep it.
