FULHAM CHRONICLES
A Lasting Legacy
In this episode Zara & Melinda talk to Sarah Bender about the story and the man behind Ray's Playhouse. A charity set up in January 2011 to save the Sands End Playhouse which had been operating in Fulham for over thirty years. The playhouse is a lasting legacy to Ray Bender who was born and raised in Fulham. Situated in the heart of Sands End, Ray’s Playhouse is a charity-funded early-years children’s centre, providing daily inclusive stay and play sessions for parents and carers with children under 5 years old. The Bender Family Trust fund core costs to keep the Playhouse running but rely on the generosity of Trusts, Foundations, Corporate givers and individuals to provide added services to benefit families and the wider community.
