Starting Homeschooling Mid-Year in Grade 11 or 12: Senior Pathways Available at Euka | 046
Can you switch to homeschooling in Grade 11 or 12, even mid-year, without losing a year of progress? In this episode of the Future Learners podcast, Brett Campbell and Ellen Brown put the lens on the senior years, and the short answer they keep coming back to is yes. As families near Term 3, the pressure of Grade 11 and 12 climbs and so does the anxiety. Brett and Ellen unpack how Euka's senior program actually works: the assessed stream (upload your work, get teacher feedback, resubmit to lift your mark) and the non-assessed stream (same subjects, self-directed, finishing with a completion certificate). English is the only mandatory subject, and students choose five more from around 20 options. Because senior subjects are one-year courses, they can change direction between Grade 11 and 12 in a way mainstream school rarely allows. They also tackle the fear underneath almost every senior enquiry: without an ATAR or HSC, is the door to university closed? Ellen's answer is that it's the opposite. Euka's university pathway is recognised by 100+ universities across 18 countries, with no ATAR required, and students complete a diploma in their first year that guarantees entry into second year of the degree. Plus, the flexible fourth term: Grade 12 runs across three terms, leaving room for work experience, a passion project or volunteering before the next step. If your teen is struggling through their senior years, or is simply ready for something that fits them better, you don't have to wait until next year. New to homeschooling?
