Blessing, Temptation & Freedom | What Joseph Teaches Us About Faith
How can you walk in God's blessing, resist temptation, and experience true freedom—even when your circumstances are difficult? In this powerful message from Genesis 39 , Pastor Nate Clarke looks at the life of Joseph and shows what it means to remain faithful to God through hardship, temptation, injustice, and seasons that don't make sense. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and thrown into prison—yet through every season, the Lord was with Joseph . Joseph's story teaches us that God's blessing isn't dependent on perfect circumstances. We can find favor with God by faithfully following His Word and find favor with others through diligent, excellent work. But when we're forced to choose between pleasing God and pleasing people, Joseph's example reminds us to choose God and leave the consequences to Him . We also learn from Joseph how to resist temptation. Instead of minimizing or justifying sin, we must call sin what it is, remember how our choices affect others, recognize that sin is ultimately against God, and when it comes to sexual temptation— run from it . Finally, Joseph's story reveals the difference between looking free and actually being free. Joseph's brothers were physically free but remained trapped by guilt and shame for decades. Joseph was physically imprisoned, yet his soul was free because he continued walking faithfully with God. No circumstance, relationship, achievement, or amount of money can give us that kind of freedom. True freedom is found through Jesus Christ.
