A Better Guidance System for High School Students, by Highs School Students
Aug 6, 202623 minS1
Many high school students know the feeling of waiting weeks to speak with a guidance counsellor, trying to make important decisions with limited support, or wondering if they're making the "right" choice for their future. Polina experienced those same frustrations, but instead of simply accepting them, she and her team decided to build a solution. In this episode of GenNext , Ms. Cam talks with Polina, a high school student, writer, and co-founder of GUIDER , a student-led platform designed to make academic planning, career exploration, scholarships, and local student resources more accessible. This project has evolved into a growing community initiative built by students, for students. But this conversation isn't just about AI or technology. It's about recognizing problems, having the courage to start before you feel ready, and discovering that some of the best people to solve student problems are students themselves. The Team shares: How GUIDER grew from a classroom idea into a community-driven platform The surprising mindset shift that helped Polina move from noticing a problem to solving one How feedback helped shape the platform Why leadership is really about listening, problem-solving, and bringing people together How arts, technology, and entrepreneurship can work together to create meaningful impact Why young people shouldn't wait for adults to solve every problem they experience What the future of student guidance could look like when it's built with students instead of just for them Try This Challenge: This week's challenge from Polina is beautifully simple. Find someone outside your usual circle (someone who isn't already your close friend or family member) and tell them about a problem you're trying to solve or something that's been frustrating you. Don't pitch it. Don't try to convince them. Just say it out loud. Listen to how they react. Ask questions. Their perspective might help you see your idea differently, spark a new solution, or even introduce you to someone who can help. As Polina shares in this episode, every major step in building GUIDER started when she stopped keeping the idea to herself and began talking about it with other people. High School Students Teaching the Next Generation About Cybersecurity

These three high school students realized younger kids aren't getting enough opportunities to learn about technology and cybersecurity, so they decided they would teach them. In this episode of GenNext, Ms. Cam sits down with Eric C., Eric K., and Alex, three students who designed and delivered hands-on cybersecurity workshops for Grade 7 and 8 students. Using Arduino boards, Chromebooks, and a lot of curiosity, they introduced younger students to computer networking, online safety, and the technology that powers our digital world. But this conversation goes beyond computers. It's about seeing a need, taking initiative, learning by doing, and discovering that you don't have to be an expert to share your knowledge with others. The Team shares: How their curiosity about technology and engineering began Why cybersecurity and digital literacy matter more than ever The inspiration that motivated them to create their own community project What it was like designing and teaching hands-on workshops for younger students The unexpected challenges they faced and how they solved them Why teaching others became one of the best ways to deepen their own learning How curiosity, teamwork, and taking small first steps can lead to meaningful change This episode is a reminder that some of the best ideas start with asking, How can I help? 🚀 Try This Challenge: This week, our two Erics and Alex each gave you a suggestion of how to turn your curiosity into action. Design something. Eric K.'s challenge is to create a free account on OnShape , design a simple 3D object, and see if your local library has a 3D printer you can use. It's a fun way to turn a digital idea into something you can actually hold. Take the first step. Alex challenges you to stop waiting for the "perfect time." If you've been thinking about starting a project, don't try to finish it today—just sketch your idea, make a list, or spend 20 minutes getting started. Get inspired. Eric C. suggests exploring YouTube or another learning resource to discover projects that interest you. You don't have to invent something completely new. Find an idea you like, adapt it, and make it your own. Remember: every project starts with curiosity and every big project starts with one small first step. Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
