Rooke Elderly Care Home, 30th Calpe Conference, Heart Awareness Month
The Health Authority has announced the £38 million purchase of the Rooke Elderly Care Home, with plans to operate the 218-bed facility with GHA staff. Ros Astengo will take us through the latest developments and the complicated history of the home over the past six years. We’ll be live at the University of Gibraltar for the 30th Calpe Conference, marking 100 years since the discovery of the Gibraltar 2 Neanderthal skull, and a decade since the Gorham’s Cave Complex became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And September is Heart Awareness Month, with the Gibraltar Cardiac Association also celebrating its tenth anniversary. We speak to Gibraltar Cardiac Association representatives Sueyenne Catania and Nati Fortuna, cardiac patient Tony Loddo, and retired Cardiac Specialist Nurse Gerry Fortuna, who was instrumental in establishing Gibraltar’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre.
