#GoGrandma with Mrs Eleanor Bageine - Strategies for the Next Generation
Used across Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Afripods. "With the fastest technology today, grandmothers have a lot of learning to do and it is the young ones to teach them and also provide online safety." A grandmother asking for digital skills training, and naming young people as the ones qualified to deliver it. For four episodes of #GoGrandma we have had people talk about grandmothers. This time a grandmother talks back. Mrs Eleanor Bageine is a grandmother of more than twenty in Uganda and a member of the Lions Club there. Somewhere in her community is a group of women who can read because she organised and facilitated a programme to teach them. Some of them now handle their own affairs and read aloud in church. There was no funder and no record of it anywhere. She says giving is free, and lists what she means: a smile, a prayer, words of wisdom, checking on someone. She says young people learn generosity by watching rather than being told. And she says grandmothers and young people need each other, in both directions, which she then proves by itemising both. #GoGrandma is the first series of the WomenGive Podcast, from the GivingTuesday Africa Hub, part of the Grandmothers of Generosity campaign.
