Episode #27
The Love of a Father with My Father Law, Tom Martin
Don't forget to watch on Youtube! In this episode of Grief Witnessed, I sit down with someone who means so much to me, my father-in-law, Tom. This conversation is incredibly special because we loved and lost the same person. I lost my husband, and Tom lost his son. Together, we reflect on the first year without Tanner and what grief has looked like for each of us. Tom shares stories about raising Tanner, the joy he brought into every room, and the little moments that made him who he was. We also talk about how our bodies remember grief, why a parent's loss is so unique, and how love continues to live on through memories, family, and Tanner's daughter, Amy Lou. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is simply getting to hear Tom tell stories about Tanner as a little boy. They made me laugh, they made me cry, and they reminded me that the people we love never stop shaping the lives around them. If you've ever lost someone you love, or if you've wondered what grief looks like from a parent's perspective, I hope this conversation helps you feel seen. It's a reminder that grief changes over time, but love never does. Enjoy this season 1 finale, of Grief Witnessed.
