Episode #200
200 | Anonymous (Psalms 66-67, 71)
Ancient Israel, somewhere in the period of the monarchy or just after. The Jerusalem Temple is the center of religious life. Worship is not a private thing here. It is communal, loud, expensive, and tied directly to the nation's relationship with a God who, in their understanding, controls everything from rainfall to military outcomes. These three psalms, 66, 67, and 71, all live in that world. Each one pulls at a slightly different thread of what it means to be human inside it.
